Daily quote

"A bird sitting on a tree is never afraid of the branch breaking, because it's trust is not in the branch, but in its own wings. Be yourself." Happy Friday, everyone!

avocado salad

Spring on a plate

15:56

In a cold and grey Madrid it is necessary to find some vitamins. When the sun don't shine as it always does, I made this avocado salat. Healthy, fast and delicious!

Ingredients:

*1 avocado,chopped into small pieces
*8 cherry tomatoes,halved
*1 cucumber (about 50-100g)
*1 salad mix (arugula adds a great taste)

For the dressing:

*1 tbsp lemon juice (half of lemon)
*2 tbsp olive oil
*little bit of pepper and salt

Steps:

1. For the dressing, mix the lemon juice, olive oil and add a tiny part of salt and pepper.
2. Combine all of the ingredients in a medium bowl adding the dressing as the last one.
3. If you want, serve with a bread. Enjoy!

Sunday at the Museo Thyssen-Bornemisza

17:09

Cloudy and windy Sundays like today`s one are meant to be spent in museums. I explored Museo Thyssen-Bornemisza which is my favourite art gallery in Madrid. Learning about famous paintings, observing real gems by Monet, Sisley, Renoir, Pissarro and Degas. What could be better?
Sadly, today closes exhibition about Hubert de Givenchy. I saw it a month ago ( Hubert de Givenchy in Museo Thyssen-Bornemisza ). Let`s see what the next exhibition will be like.

coffee

Small things that matter:Vertical Caffè

11:57

It's the little things that matter the most. Walking near Caixa Forum, I discovered a lovely place called Vertical Caffè . Caffe Latte, view to Paseo del Prado shiny lights and the atmosphere was brilliant. It definitely is one of my it places where I would love to return. I hope that you are having a great Friday too!

Madrid guide: Sabatini gardens

20:13

When you happen to visit Templo de Debod (read more in my previous post- Madrid guide:Templo de Debod ), a little bit further is another place worth seeing. The Sabatini gardens are a perfect spot for a break during intense sightseeing. It is a part of the Royal Palace and offers beautiful view of the North façade. Gardens are calm and quite relaxing. You can go there and enjoy the greenery, sculptures and tranquility.

celebration

Los Reyes Magos

13:22

One of the things about living abroad is exploring a completely new culture and traditions. For me it was the Spanish feast "Los Reyes Magos". Fireworks, parade and streets full of happy people-I am sure it was such a great celebration. Now the holidays are over and it is time to achieve New Year resolutions ;)

Madrid guide: Templo de Debod

15:20

It may sound weird, but there really is an Egyptian temple in downtown Madrid. Templo de Debod constitutes one of the few works of ancient Egyptian architecture which can be seen outside Egypt and the only one of its kind in all Spain. The temple was rebuilt in one of Madrid's parks, the Parque del Oeste, near the Royal Palace of Madrid, and opened to the public in 1972. What is more, the views from park to Palacio Real are magical and one of my favourite in all Madrid. I will return there sooner or later, I promise.
